There’s so much to update!

Chapter 1 has been reworked. Chapter 2 has a new cover, a new page and some edits. Chapter 4 has a updated cover and new dialog.

I’ve been active over on Patreon. Notably for all patrons, there’s a new page of Land of the Living (a comic of when Bhatair, Gudrun, and Joshua first meet). For $5-$10 patrons there’s a new script and thumbnails for Chapter 5 (it’ll be reworked someday before TSE is printed, but not at the moment because I want to prioritize Chapter 21 pages.)

The art for the calendar is mostly done, but I am still polishing it. From now until New Years I’m going to be updating Chapter 21 pages at my own pace because the holidays tend to be hectic and I’m not sure if I can jump straight back into once a week updates. BUT I promise normal Friday updates will resume in January. You can subscribe to The Silver Eye newsletter here to be notified about page updates.

Real Life Recap:

August was not a good month. Most of my family’s connections who were in Afghanistan are still trapped there. However, two families were able to evacuate last month. It was very heartening to witness it being coordinated and worked out successfully. It gives me hope for the others. I also got to meet a local Afghan family who were able to fly out 3 days before Kabul fell. We had a nice day at the river and I took them on one of my favorite hikes.

My charity prints raised funds to help Afghan families and fire victims. Those are still available, and my Afghanistan page has a list of links to trusted charities! This is the first time I’ve done charity prints and it’s gone well. I’m really pleased to be able to use my art like this.

For most of October I was on a family trip in the UK. My sister, author of The Eleventh Trade and The Invisible Boy, is working on her PhD project, which is a story set in the Orkney Islands in Scotland. It was simply amazing. Maybe I’ll go over different parts of the trip in future pages because I don’t know where to start.

BUT one of the highlights was meeting up with Paige Coffer of The Legend of Ruach webcomic! We got to hang out and do sketches around Bath.

I was coming off of a travel high and feeling a little bummed to return to normal life—then I got home and was greeted by an unexpected pile of packages. I started opening them and grew teary-eyed as I realized that readers of The Silver Eye had conspired to endow me with kind notes and care packages! It hit me that I cannot be bummed with ‘normal life’ because my day-to-day life is such a blessing, and is just as wonderful as any grand adventure.

I am so grateful for the readership that has developed around this comic! When I started this story on my own, I never could have expected would grow a community so beautiful. I am refreshed and enheartened and ready to move this story forward!

If you’re a newer reader, you’re welcome to join us in the comment section! You can introduce yourself and name your favorite character from the comic. If you’re a regular commenter, feel free to say hey! I offer up this prompt: What is the most perfect ending you can imagine for your favorite character(s)?
