I started a side project Facebook page recently that I guess I shall go ahead and announce because it’s starting to get traction without me promoting it.  It is called AI Spotting!

The name is pretty self-explanatory, it’s about telling AI-generated images apart from real photos or artwork. I’m pretty good at recognizing AI, but it’s mostly instinctive. It’s a challenge to prove it’s fake to an average person sometimes. One post got like 200 shares today and it’s about the AI images that are easy to spot, but I’m more looking forward to deep dives analyzing the more convincing ones.

I had fun doodling the profile picture. The fingers went against every instinct. Also he has a candy cane and Dr. Pepper because that is more wholesome than the cigarette/beer in the original meme.

Also, since I used it as an example on that page, I gotta reveal this beauty…

You recall the sticker I designed to celebrate reaching 100 Patreon supporters? It has the Shephard family motto, “I breathe, I hope” on it. For all of last year, my mom was fighting cancer and recovering from treatments and the design and motto really resonated with her. For her birthday, my siblings and I all pitched in and commissioned an artist to create it in stained glass!

The family did a Zoom meeting from our respective corners of the globe for the big reveal. It made mom cry, which is what every child dreams of.
