ART CONTEST

I’ll be in England next week (if you want anything off Etsy, order it by the 17th), plus I have a huge commission I need to finish, so it is unlikely that I’ll be able to do a page ;-; (I’ll attempt it but I know my limits)

I had the idea for an art contest to celebrate spring around the corner and help tide us over.

The guidelines are these: Find a classical painting (suggested range of 1880s – 1920s) of a lady with flowers and do a master copy, but feature Berlyne, Chara, or both, as the girl(s). Master copy is what it sounds like, you take a masterpiece and then try to copy it as closely as you can (it is like a recreation, not a draw-this-in-your-style meme). I love doing them because you learn so much about the thought process of the original painter.

Any visual medium is accepted. Color is preferred. You don’t have to be as tightly detailed as the reference painting (Some of them are crazy detailed with all those flowers!), it’s okay to be loose and more impressionistic. It’s also okay to reference a full body painting and crop it to only be a portrait/close up. You can use one of the examples of paintings here, or you can find your own!

Prizes (Via Paypal, Venmo, or Amazon giftcard):

  • 1st Place – $50
  • 2nd Place – $25
  • 3rd Place – $10

Email entries to Drawingsworth@gmail.com Attach your entry, plus the painting you referenced, and the name you would like to be credited as (for when I post the art all together).

Deadline: 4th of March (No extensions this time, do or do not, there is no try)

I had multiple thoughts for the hover text, so here are runner-ups:

This page has a strong sibling energy.

The flashback was the pigeondove’s the whole time?!

Ladies, please. Let the poor man have a break.

When you beat up your friends and they all give you their pillows anyway.

Maybe if everything had not been so crazy with moving I would have noticed sooner that I somehow am signed up for TWO THREE healthcare plans and the unwanted one is, uh, 26 times more expensive than the wanted one. So. I just found that out as I was working on this page, and hopefully it can be remedied, otherwise ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)ツ $$$

Update 2/20/20 Made it to the UK! Sister Alyssa and her dog Maeve are moving here. Fitting her 9 giant suitcases in one car was insanity! (I had to ride for 2 hours sitting in the fetal position among them, it is times like these being 5’2″ comes in handy) Maeve was traumatized by her adventure in flying, but she is sleeping like a log now.

I need to render my commission so that is what I’ll be focusing on for the next few days.
