Note to Patreon supporters: their site is under maintenance at the moment, but also I couldn’t get into my account before that, so I’ve contacted customer service and hopefully we can sort things out shortly.

This week I went with my sister Alyssa to the D.C. area for a couple days and it was oh so good for my soul. Monday was insane (but in a good way). It started with going into the city and we split ways with Alyssa heading to the Newseum for novel research and me going to the National Gallery of Art across the street.

I got to spend several hours going around and sketching masterpieces! Last time I tried that, I immediately got swamped by tourists checking out what I was drawing and it was unnerving and made my drawings suck. Since I’ve been doing a lot more drawing from life recently, my sketches have been more confident, which made it a lot more fun!

After that, we drove over to Richmond to catch Shannon Messenger’s book signing and I got to meet her as well as a couple fans of my art!

(Note the symbolic scarves)

And after that we drove straight past our house to the airport to pick up our oldest sister, Amy, who will be staying through Thanksgiving. We didn’t get to bed until past 1am, it was a very eventful day.
